Use of Rain City’s electric gear is free for non-competitive students in our beginning and continuing classes. Read on for more details.

Competitive fencers, whether in class or open fencing, are expected to own their own electric gear and uniform and use it during class and open fencing.  Electric gear includes weapons, lamés and body cords.

Recreational fencers (who just come to open fencing and don’t compete) are expected to own and use their own gear during open fencing.

Class members who come to open fencing may use RC non-electric gear (uniform and a practice weapon) and fence “dry” for free. If you want to fence electric, you will need to rent or buy electric gear.

You may rent RCFC electric gear for Rain City competitions and open fencing. The fees are as follows:

• $10 per tournament. You may borrow what you need but Rain City does not guarantee that our club gear is competition-legal.
• $25/month for open fencing, payable with your monthly dues or class fee.

Exception: You may borrow RC electric equipment for free if you are a beginner fencing in your first tournament.

We sell mostly Blue Gauntlet equipment, which is the same as our club gear. Package discounts are available.

Basic Electric Package – costs about $170 ($142 if you already have knickers) including discount and sales tax.

  *Foil price will vary slightly depending on blade, pad and grip selection.

Basic Beginner Uniform – costs $119.98 including discount and sales tax.

• Mask — $55

• Underarm protector — $19
